Flying Pig Acres
Hudson, NY
Garden structure/sculpture, Meadow, Substantial native plants, Water feature, Woodland/shade garden
Twenty years of garden obsession! As you enter through the front gate, you'll see a formal garden with golden privet hedges and stone walls and will pass the kitchen garden with its herbs and seating where we enjoy the morning sun; opposite on the front porch, you'll see a tease of the containers and planters we have all over the property. Walking the gravel paths surrounding the house, you'll experience shade and full sun gardens and at the back, a large entertaining space with two main features: a seating area with a vista of the open meadow and our view down the Bradford Pear Allée where a pagoda folly in traditional red and black colors will catch your eye—a perfect place for a meditation break. Walk further on around the shipping container pool, where a small footbridge leads to the vegetable garden and greenhouse. As you come back toward the front, a small pond and stream come into view where you can sit on the squirrel bench and listen to the running water where grasses and native plants are in view. As you end your journey, you will come to the whimsical cottage garden beds along the path where playful topiaries complement the original cedar cottage.
This garden's estimated size is 2 acres.
