Pretty Bird Farm is a flower and vegetable garden nestled in Delaware Township, one of the most scenic areas of Hunterdon County. Our hillside location overlooks the Rosemont Valley and allows us to be a low water use site. Our cultivated garden is now about an acre in size and is planted yearly with more than 150 different varieties of annuals, perennials, and vegetables. While our garden has been growing over the last eight years, so has our family, and our vision for the garden has also evolved over this time. What started as a food garden for just the two of us, our half-acre garden now supports our growing small business. We sell organically grown produce and flowers to the local community and beyond. It has become a sanctuary for local pollinators and as a waystation for migrating monarchs. It has become a place for our young children to grow and learn about the natural world around them. As you wander the grass walkways you may find a secret hideout, a bit of artwork, or a lost toy. Come visit us in June for a showcase of our Cool Flowers. These are our cut flowers that are planted the previous fall and early March of this year and tucked in under frost cloth and mulch to bring them into bloom in May—the time of year most people in our 6B hardiness zone are just planting things in the ground. Visit in August to see the garden in full bloom! We plant thousands of milkweed plants and other pollinator host plants each year. Expect it to be full of butterflies! August is also the peak for tomatoes, and we will offer tasting of our ripe and ready heirlooms.
This garden's estimated size is 4½ acres.
