Goin' to the Dogs
Cheshire, CT
Meadow, Organic/toxin-free, Scenic view, Woodland/shade garden
More than 40 years ago we moved to Cheshire. I didn't like the house, but the yard called to me—not the area where there was a doghouse and dog run; it was the trees that beckoned. And the pattern of the yard; it was surrounded by tall trees on the north and east. The chain-link fence on the west gave way to a bird-loving viburnum hedge. And the dog run morphed into a MEADOW. The dirt pile from the kitchen construction blossomed into a dogwood/redbud thicket. Walking into this "garden" is like walking into another world—a calming yet very much alive world where a woodchuck might walk near you and meadow grasses move gracefully with the breeze.
This garden's estimated size is ½ acre.
