Woodsndale
Mountain Dale, NY
Fruit/vegetables, Organic/toxin-free, Scenic view, Substantial native plants, Woodland/shade garden
Working in the film and fashion industry for twenty-plus years, I settled in the Catskills and started a family and a career in environmental science. No longer working in fabrics, I now paint with flowers, plants, and forms given to me by the natural landscapes of Woodsndale. Woodsndale was conceived to provide a sustainable home for all of us to live in harmony. We have created decorative gardens with more than 80 varieties of plantain lilies, many Asiatic hybrid lilies, varieties of hydrangeas, and much more. From spring to fall, Woodsndale is a pollinator's paradise and home to wild bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and, yes, ground hogs, and a herd of deer. Our organic vegetable garden provides for our daily sustenance. The decorative gardens are a gateway to the naturalized woodland gardens that meld into the forest and glacier rocks. We enjoy having visitors walk through the 2+ acres of gardens and then discover the forest. We encourage you to have a cold drink at the writer's shack, and rest among the rock formations surrounded by the trees. We know you will enjoy listening to the winds and leaves as they create a unique voice for nature's symphony.
This garden's estimated size is 2 acres of garden, plus 4 of forest.
