We are situated on a hill overlooking beautiful Puget Sound. Our property includes both shady woodland and full sun areas, so we are able to grow a diverse selection of plants. We have several goals for ourselves as caretakers of our property. One is to have something in bloom from early spring through fall. The other is to use water and our labor resources efficiently. In addition, we love fragrance and color. So we have used many different types of plants throughout our gardens to achieve these goals. We also have many garden accents made of glass that give the garden a playful feeling. In spring we have a profusion of bulbs and early blooming perennials such as epimediums and terrestrial orchids. As spring gives way to summer, we have blue Himalayan poppies, more orchids, peonies, delphiniums, and finally roses. Midsummer is full of Oriental lilies, roses, and many other perennials. Late summer gives us perennial lobelia, sedum, and many fuchsias. A collection of arisaemas blooms throughout the season in the various beds. We have fruits, vegetables, and herbs in sunny beds, so we enjoy our own organic produce throughout the season. Grasses add texture as well as low water requirements. We have two mature ponds that give us many hours of pleasure. Waterlilies give us color and habitat for many goldfish and frogs that hatch out and mature each year.
This garden's estimated size is ¾ acre cultivated, ¾ acre forest.
