Novelty Creek
Redmond, WA
Rare plants/plant collection, Water feature
Novelty Creek was designed around three large ponds connected by cascading waterfalls, and fed by a year-round, 60-gallons-per-minute artesian spring. The ponds were dug in 1979 when the house was built, but the garden didn't truly begin in earnest until twelve years later. Gardening around the unlined, natural blue clay ponds is a challenge. To survive, plants must thrive in either a bog or hard-packed clay. At the entry, a massive arbor blends with the post and rail fencing, as well as the pergola nearer the pasture. The free-standing stone moon gate near the front door is in keeping with the "circles" throughout the property.
This garden's estimated size is 1 acre.
