Clay Hill Garden
Boyce, VA
Fruit/vegetables, Historic garden, Organic/toxin-free, Scenic view, Water feature
My husband and I have lived at Clay Hill for more than forty years and the gardens have grown and changed along with the property and ourselves.
We have created a series of terraces with a Gothic-inspired greenhouse at the center where I grow orchids, palms, and cycads.
My principal gardening passion is growing dahlias. We currently grow nearly a hundred in special beds that cater to their requirements. In September and October, they are at their peak of beauty.
We also have a large vegetable and cut flower kitchen garden, in addition to our wonderful, very old boxwood bushes of which we are especially proud.
This garden’s estimated size is 3 acres.
