Bedford Cross Farm
Bedford Hills, NY
Fruit/vegetables, Meadow, Organic/toxin-free, Substantial native plants
We purchased this 1810 farmhouse 30 years ago and have slowly been developing the gardens over the years. The 6-acre property is full of gorgeous mature native trees planted in the late 1800s when the land was used as a nursery. As some of the oldest trees around the house have fallen, the sun has allowed us to plant more densely and intentionally. We still use the original vegetable garden (bordered by the original peonies) but have added a shade garden, pool garden, rose garden and white garden. We grow many plants from seed and cuttings and use our greenhouse for propagation and overwintering of camellias and succulents.
This garden's estimated size is 2 acres.
