This garden is also hosting a Digging Deeper on Sunday, August 10: Urban Pollinator Gardening
Tucked away in an urban neighborhood, I have been developing my small lot into a wildlife and pollinator friendly garden. The garden is twenty years in the making, with a maple tree shade garden in the front of my home and full sun to more shade in the backyard. The garden beds are meadows of many different perennials, with splashes of colorful tropical and annual plants. I grow several different kinds of berries and have a small vegetable room, where I grow my vegetables. There are two huge river birches in the back of the property that can get pretty wet in spring and fall, so there are winterberries, buttonbushes, and an array of different perennials and annuals. The property has a natural hedgerow, giving me privacy from my neighbors. I grow most of my plants myself from seed, so there will be plants you won't see at the local greenhouse.
This garden's estimated size is 5,000 sq. feet.
