Inclusive Gardens in Unconventional Spaces

This webinar explored the cultural richness and diversity of traditions that define the American gardening lexicon, led by featured speakers Abra Lee, founder, Conquer the Soil, and Wambui Ippolito, founder, BIPOC Working Hort Group. From community gardens to botanical gardens, sidewalk strips to plants in pots, America’s horticultural story has been and continues to be shaped by people and practices from around the globe and across cultures. To expand our collective gardening consciousness, we are called upon to broaden our understanding of our rich horticultural history and to celebrate all gardens and gardening traditions that influence the way we think about and work with plants.

The program was held live on Zoom on Thursday, July 30, 2020, from 2 to 3 p.m. It was the second program in a four-part, biweekly webinar series, Gardens for a Changing World, exploring the new role of gardens in our changing world and featuring some of the most preeminent thought leaders in the gardening world in 2020.
