About
This 10-acre property was designed variously by Warren Manning and Bryant Fleming (both formerly of the offices of Frederick Law Olmsted) and Charles Gillette. The gardens were created in the early 1900s for Blanche Ferry Hooker, daughter of the founder of the Ferry Seed Company, and a competent plantswoman in her own right. The property comprises a swale, a half mile of shaded walking trails, perennial beds, a root cellar, a knot garden, a 100-foot-long folly of rose-clad stone arches, a dogwood grove, and a riverbank fern garden.
This garden’s estimated size is 10 acres.
