In this talk, Deborah Nevins will present the work of her award-winning landscape design firm, Deborah Nevins & Associates, which designs projects all over the world. The firm’s projects include the 40-acre Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center and Park in Athens, Greece, in collaboration with Renzo Piano; the Pritzker Garden in the Renzo Piano Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago; and the expansion of the campus of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, with her associated firm, Nevins & Benito Landscape Architecture. Deborah Nevins has also designed landscapes at significant estates in the Chicago area, Aspen, California, Texas, and the northeast.

Key principles in the firm’s approach to sustainability include universal accessibility, use of native plants, green roofs, and low water use, all of which were key factors in the award-winning Niarchos Cultural Center project. Deborah Nevins is a trustee of LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton, NY, and a Fellow of the Garden Conservancy.

Robert Balentine, vice-chairman of the board of directors of the Garden Conservancy, and Tavia McCuean, chair of the Cherokee Garden Club Advisory Board, will give opening remarks.
